We re-opened The Crown Inn, in Stoke by Nayland, Suffolk, in late 2003 after an extensive refurbishment programme.

The Crown Inn is an independently owned traditional village Inn and is highly acclaimed for its traditional and welcoming surroundings, great service, quality food, and its extensive range of wines and ales. Our luxury Suffolk hotel, which was opened in second half of 2008, was a natural extension for the Inn, and is an ideal base for your holiday or short break. We have eleven en-suite bedrooms, which are well furnished and uniquely appointed in sympathy with their historic surroundings.

The enchanting village of Stoke by Nayland, built on a hill above the Stour and Box river valleys, nestles on the Suffolk and Essex border. The nearby Church of St Mary’s, with its 120 foot tower, is a well loved local landmark and can be seen in the works of the English landscape artist John Constable, who immortalised the surrounding countryside of The Dedham Vale in the 18th century.

If the energy and excitement of everyday life just gets too much, you’ll find The Crown Inn the ideal Suffolk hotel from which to base your getaway. Explore the glorious surrounding countryside of the Dedham Vale, hire a boat from Dedham or Flatford Mill and spend an afternoon on the picturesque river Stour, or simple take some time out to visit the beautiful local villages of Long Melford or Lavenham. Once you have done all this you may perhaps feel like venturing slightly further afield to the historic coastal towns of Frinton or Southwold.
