Sunday Roast - The Great British TraditionIt’s a British institution and one that we’re very proud of here at the Crown Inn, Stoke-By-Nayland. The traditional Sunday roast is the perfect excuse to get the family together or meet with friends and enjoy the best of British produce.

The tradition of a Sunday roast can be traced back as far as the 1700’s and marked the end of a period of fasting observed prior to religious services on Sunday morning. This tradition was observed across most of Europe, the Sunday Roast as we know it is, however a truly British creation (and one of which we are rightfully proud!).

The Crown Inn at Stoke-by-Nayland is open every Sunday for a traditional Sunday Lunch, cooked and served by our dedicated team in comfortable surroundings. Choose from a selection of carefully selected meats with all the trimmings and make the most of this most tasty of British traditions (fasting optional).

Why not compliment your Sunday lunch with a glass of something special from our extensively stocked wine cellar. With over 30 different wines available by the glass, whether you choose chicken, pork or beef, our helpful staff will help you to select the best possible accompaniment for your meal.
